Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning, stating that Israel is prepared to launch military strikes on Gaza again at any time. Speaking at an event with army officers, Netanyahu emphasized that Israel’s military plans are ready to be enacted. He called for the immediate return of all Israeli hostages, demanding that Hamas cease its rule over Gaza and the region be demilitarized, with its fighting capabilities eradicated.
Netanyahu vowed that Israel would not rest until its hostages were returned, highlighting the recent handover of the bodies of Shiri Bibas and her two children, Fiore and Ariel, by Hamas. He declared, “We will not forget them. We will fight to avenge them.”
In addition, the United States supported Israel’s position, particularly its refusal to release 620 Palestinian prisoners as part of the ceasefire agreement. The U.S. urged Hamas to adhere to the terms of the ceasefire, expressing concerns that the release of prisoners could undermine the hostages’ families’ emotional well-being.
The situation remains tense, as the conflict, which began with an Israeli attack on Gaza on October 7, 2023, has resulted in significant casualties, including over 800 Palestinians killed in Israeli military operations in the West Bank. The release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for hostages remains a key issue in the ongoing negotiations.
